Statement As an avid arts advocate, nationally recognized dance teacher, and a strong supporter of the 21st Century Skills, I chose to become a teacher to be able to share my knowledge and experience with my students. My belief is that everyone has their own talents and creativity; I simply provide the avenues to express them. Art is everywhere around us and our society cannot move forward without arts education, without development of creativity skills, problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and especially, without fostering imagination! I believe in my students, and I highly respect their artistic work. I expect my students to be better than I am. In that way I know that I taught them well. My job is to lead my students to a new understanding about themselves not through my lecturing, but through stimulation of thinking, exploring and creating. Julio Morgado, eMotion Dance Company Assistant Director and Lecturer at Bellaire HS, HISD. About Julio Morgado is a Bellaire High School alumnus and former eMotion Dance Company President. During his time as a BHS student, he developed an interest in Theoretical Physics. While continuing to be active in the local dance community, he is currently pursuing his studies in Physics at the University of Houston. His knowledge in Physics proves to be very useful when helping his students learn new "break dance" material that requires a basic understanding of mechanics. With 7+ years of "break dance" experience and under the instruction of Meoka McBride, he has helped the company take an innovative approach towards its rigorous agenda. Morgado is a founding member of the Avengers Dance Crew in Houston, TX. He has performed on numerous stages throughout the US over the last couple of years. Although Morgado specializes in the dynamic aspect of "break dance" known as power moves, he is very knowledgeable in other aspects such as foot work, freezes, etc. Morgado has held the "Texas Illest Power Move Champion" title since 2013. Due to his accomplishments, his followers have even given him the nickname "Power Monster".Aside from spending time with eMotion Dance Company, Morgado continues to train in order to win other titles in the hip hop & bboy community worldwide.
